Time's Unfolding Moment's Fire

Out of time's unfolding moment's
fire, the martyred present flames before my eyes,
eyes that spot with light and dark and strike
the breathing leaves, whose entered space
opening confers         denies          confers
to lustlocked sight.     These twin marks
upon our bodies orbit our moment's gain
in flesh, as if all the wings of light
into these twins of dark converge.

       distance darkened
       by the light
       the light below
       the blue cliffs fall away
       to grassy sea
       whose wave tops

                     topple the flecking
                     sun whose chatter
                     their profundity shies
                     from for coupled bodies
                     fall in stayed blue
                     light of mind

                     that history
                     forsaken lovers
                     makes
                     into ruined stone
                     we preserve as
                     wall we want

                     the record tamed
                     to excellence
                     absurd

                     the temple above
                     enfolds the light
                     by volution
                     of its columns

                     your breath
                     so near
                     some perfect
                     dark moves
                     to pair

                     your wisp of lip
                     against
                     my ear

Your rumination must entail dross
of lassitude without which black luxury
of loss is not defined.  Our touch the means
of dark and light walls into our memory.
Its spots and mark twin perfect darkness take.
